Exhibition Dates: Sept. 26 — Oct. 5, 2024
The students of the Gallery As Site for Social Change class invite visitors to observe and interact with their inclusive exhibit Mini Museum: The Sum of Small Parts. This exhibition provides a view on meaningful miniature creations reflecting significant aspects of life to the people who made them. Each student in the class has made a small artwork and invited one person from outside the class to contribute a piece as well.
(Life-size painting of a Swiss Army Knife)
3 x 3 x .5", 103x smaller than the amount of blood in my body measured in cubic inches.
Gouache, pen, and alcohol markers on paper mounted to wood.
I got my nail-biting, ADHD, and this pocket knife from my mother. When I was diagnosed, I learned to readjust my life to fit the way my brain works instead of trying to slot a round peg into a square hole. I brush my teeth in the shower, schedule emails for 8 AM so my boss doesn't know I'm up until 4, and carry a pocket knife my mother gave me so that my nails stay neat when I need to pick at them.
