A collection of freelance and personal work with a focus on digital portraiture.
I started painting in 2020 by creating portraits for friends and family which led to painting portraits at Elara Caring Hospice Network for patients and their families.
Commissioned by a group of professors at the University of Michigan, I created this portrait series for a new University of Michigan class as staff portraits. The class is a recreational and enrichment class that teaches students how to be better dungeon masters in table-top roleplaying games. I was given creative lead on the project with the task of combining photo references of staff provided to me, along with their chosen fantasy inspiration. The job required both leadership in a creative role and the ability to work with clients in a sensitive area.
A triptych based around the emotional states of a kidnapped fae jester. These portraits allow a glimpse into this bizarre fantasy character's life.
Inspired by a classic Leyendecker illustration, this retro fantasy piece explores form, style, and working greyscale.
A modern twist on the Greek God Hypnos. Fantasy portraits allow my to play with unusual color palettes and styles.
Simple without being simplistic, a reduced color palette and flat shading allows for a focus on the intimacy of the space.
Astronauts in my work represent the barriers we put up, along with allowing for projection onto the characters.
Created for online sensation Blaseball, this piece is an over dramatization of a very silly concept that I used as an opportunity to experiment with a less realistic style.
Mock-up of a comic cover for a fantasy series I have in the works. Style is something I enjoy playing with, and for this piece I looked towards modern comic covers for inspiration; gritty, simple, and dynamic. Comics are a passion of mine for many reasons, one of the most important being that everything on a page happens, visually, instantaneously (see: Understanding Comics by Scot McCloud). This cover shows the act of violence happening always one second before you have a chance to process it.
